Trying to stay positive

My second job is becoming more of a headache, and I am super frustrated.  It's a bar/private club for veterans, and I have been a member for 23yrs (grandpa was in the service).  Anyway, I was recently appointed to the Social Committee, and we are always looking to increase fund raising/membership, or so I thought.  I have come up with some ideas to bring in people more my age (the drinking is SO cheap, and the yearly dues are too... it would save people my age so much money!), bc it really isn't just a place for old people.  All of my friends have a blast everytime I bring them in, so why not get some new, fresh faces in there??  Well, all of my ideas are okayed in public, but then the grumble of the officials begins behind closed doors... so much so that an event I have been planning for a few months and is happening in Oct is in talks of being cancelled, bc they don't find it "appropriate".  There is nothing vulgar, just a band and some activities geared towards the younger generation... and it isn't going to cost them anything about the cost of the band, which we would do for Saturday Entertainment anyway.  I am so confused and discouraged... I just needed a place to vent my frustrations...
