Happy New Year!!!

So I tried starting the New Year out the stereotypical way, but my gym membership card would not work this morning... need to call on that tomorrow...hmmm?  So instead I went grocery shopping for mostly healthy foods and snacks, then came home.

I am not usually one for resolutions, but here is what I hope to accomplish this year:

*working out at least 2-3 times per week. I also want to start and complete couch2-5k I have the damn gym membership, and I have so many cute jeans I want to wear again, plus I think by being healthier and more happy with my appearance, it will help with goal #2:

*Spend more time "loving" on J.  Yes, our private life could use some work, and I am determined to work on that more.

*Be more proactive on keeping up/organizing our home. Face it, I work a lot, and the place is gross right now (in my opinion)... so after I finish lunch and typing this, the kitchen/dining and bathroom are getting a full on clean.  I have printed off a few schedules/routines I need to get into for cleaning, but I get so discouraged (more on that in another post I am sure).

* Drink more water.  I have a water cooler right next to me at work... and a filtration system built into our apartment.  It makes no sense that I would drink as much soda as I do (wine, however, is fine!).  Plus, you would have thought I learned my lesson after almost losing my kidney a year ago (while there is no specific cause known for kidney stones, my dr told me it could be due to dehydration and high sodium... hello, Amber!)

* Take more time to make myself more presentable in the mornings.  I make sure my clothes and hair look good, but it wouldn't kill me to put the extra effort in for makeup every morning.

* weed through the mess that is my closets and donate some items.  I have 2 closets, with clothes I don't wear!  I need to work on trying each piece in an outfit, and if it makes me uncomfortable, doesn't lay right, etc... it needs to go! (plus I can shop more!)

* Work on building a savings acct.  I need to do this.  Right now, I have quite a chunk of change in checking, but that means it will be spent... I need to move it to savings where I can't see it.

* Eat out less and no more fast food!  It will be hard when Woozie wants Ber to get him french fries, but I need to stop eating that crap!  And I love to cook, and I have my own kitchen again.  There is no reason why we should be eating out as much as we do.

* Read 1 new book a month.  I love to read, especially in bubble baths with a glass of wine.  I take a bath EVERY night, but I can't tell you how many times I am txting or fbing on my phone while doing so.  Not only is it horrible for my phone, but I just need that time to unwind, and a good book does that for me.

* Spend more time with J.  Whether it's cooking together, or snuggling on the couch watching tv.  I want more time for US.

*Be a better ME... granddaughter, aunt, friend, sister, neice, etc.  I want to start making sure that the people I love KNOW it.  I know I get discouraged at people who don't return calls, txts, emails, etc.  But I am just as guilty.  Rather than singing my face off in the car on the way home, I want to use that time to and from work to make the calls to people I love.  I am sure my grandparents who appreciate seeing J and I more, and the family and friends I have out of state who like to know I am still alive ;)

* Organize and sort through photos.  I have over 3000 pictures on my computer that are just in a folder.  I want to organize them, and print off some albums.

*send birthday/anniversary/christmas and just bc cards this year.  I announced this one on FB after I realized Christmas eve that I still hadn't taken my christmas cards to the mailbox... epic fail!  Plus, I think it will be something sweet, that not a lot of people do.  I need to get working on this today.

*and lastly, be a better blogger.  I LOVE my blog, and I love reading all of yours.  I want to have more posts, and leave more comments.  I want to make some amazing friendships on here!

I think that is it.  Again, these are just goals, but they are things that are important to me and I def want to work on in the new year.

Happy 2012!!!

EDIT: Linking up with Jen at A Girl in Pearls & A Boy with Toys.    Her blog was one of the first I found a long time ago... and I still love it!!!
