Had to throw the Full House reference in there, just because I am feeling feisty!
Here's the deal... I don't "collect" things. I used to... Barbies, Dolls, the fabulous Beanies my gram thought I needed, etc. I do have a tote of carousels that I want to display, but I have had those since I was a baby, and they weren't my choice to collect.
One thing I do love to find is recipes. I have mentioned this before, and the problem is I have THOUSANDS. I am talking baskets full of recipes I have printed. Some are stored in binders, others in file folders waiting to be organized, most in piles that I will probably get frustrated with and toss. Then I have so many bookmarked and saved on my email it is insane. But it's my "thing"... I love being able to find yummy recipes, print them, cook them, and then have them for reference if I decide to make them again. Is it practical that I will ever make half of what I have printed? Probably not, but still... its not hurting anyone.
So tonight, I am telling J that I need to get a move on organizing the spare room for when his mom comes to town. I haven't unpacked much in there bc I thought we would have moved by now (our lease was up last week, now we are on a month-to-month), but that is not looking to be the case. So I went tonight to get some file folders so I can organize the filing cabinet for my bills, and also the one for my recipes (told you there was a lot). Also, I bought some index cards and page protectors in the 4x6 insert size to hold the cards. I am thinking that while it may be a ton of work, I can start weeding through the recipes, getting them on cards and getting them organized.
He makes some crappy comment about how I am doing nothing with those pieces of paper, what a waste, how silly... blah, blah, blah. I basically told him to go to bed, yada yada yada.
So, the point of this whole rambling nonsense is this: do you have a hobby or "thing" that others find silly? How do you deal with their criticism? And how in the heck do you organize all of the yummy recipes you find? Do you have a way that doesn't require your phone or pc to be in the kitchen while you're cooking?
Have a great night, girls!
