Saying goodbye to a good friend...
So... I hate that I even have to write a post like this, and I hate that I am sobbing while I do it.
Tuesday, my Aunt Nita (in the green shirt... she and I were checking out a band back in Jan 2010) went in for a biopsy. She had a bad cough since Jan of this year, so going on 5 months. She had been to Dr. after Dr, and finally in April was sent to a specialist. They tested for everything from Cancer to Pneumonia, Bronchitis, etc. Nothing ever came back positive. She was on so many medications and steroids. Long story short, something went terribly wrong during the biopsy, and she was put into ICU Tues afternoon. A little before 10p, as I was on my way to the Hospital, and I got the call she had passed.
She was more than just my Aunt. She was my shopping buddy on Black Friday, the person I called with silly questions, such as where to find a stamp at my grandparents, the person I called every time I heard a great 80s song or checked out a concert. She always had a hat on, she never wore a dress (other than her wedding day), loved to Golf, camp, Jack Daniels, etc. She was hilarious and thoughtful, making me mirrors on her lunch break for my wedding, or buying me a mop bucket bc she heard I didn't have one, and so forth.
So tonight, I am sipping a drink in memory of my Aunt Nita. I have been constantly at my grandparents over the past 2 days, and will be the next 2, for visitation and the funeral. My Uncle and Cousin could use a lot of prayers, as could my grandparents and my dad... she was the youngest and the only girl (just my dad and my aunt), she was 48... so young. Yesterday was horrible, making arrangements and taking care of my dad as he grieved.
I hope you all have a great night, and if you think to, call your loved ones and tell them you love them. I am bummed that due to crazy schedules, I have not seen my Aunt since my sister's wedding May 5, and even that was short as she wasn't feeling well.
Good night Loves...
